D-60 Specifications

  1. Pharmacy Automation Systems has a 60 cassette, stand alone, barcode driven system — the D-60 model. It is designed for easy installation, training, and operation, and has a floor footprint of approximately 3ft. x 3 ft., standing 6 ft. tall.
  2. Our system does meet guidelines for all states that have approved automation; retaining records of all stored and dispensed medications. The data that our system retains for reports are as follows:
    • NDC number
    • Lot number
    • Expiration date
    • RX number
    • Quantity of dispense
    • Employee that processed the dispense or loaded medication
    • Date and Time
  3. Reports can be auto set for download and/or email, to a common excel spreadsheet or manually called up for review and printing upon request. Reports obtained are:
    • Current Inventory
    • Dispensed Inventory
    • Medication Load Report
    • Medication Removal Report
    • Employee Access
  4. The PLC screen measures 3.5” x 4.5” and guides you through each process of loading, and dispensing medication. 
  5. Security and safety features:
    • ZERO Cross-Contamination of medications
    • Double locking system for medication safety.
    • Employee Bar code Access
    • Key locks at each dispense door location.
    • Alarms for unauthorized barcode scans. 
    • Double bar code verification during dispensing operation.
    • Eleven different warning screens to advise of any problems with the bar code scan.
  6. The D-60 works with prescription barcodes supplied by the pharmacy's host system. Common with most Pharmacy software systems, the D-60 requires the 22 digit barcode to read and record the NDC, RX# and quantity of requested fill.
  7. The cassettes are designed for each pharmacy’s formulary request. There are several options for additional cassette needs. Replacements, exchanges, or new cassettes.
  8. Standard 1-year parts and labor warranty.  An additional 4 years of service contract is available.

    • Replenishment can be done “on the fly”.  Med-canister can be replenished in the middle of a prescription dispense – automatically completing prescription dispense when the med-canister is replenished and returned to the system.
    • Has multi-med canister dispensing capability (2 or more canisters can house the same medication).  Once the dispensing canister is depleted / determined to be empty, the D60 system will advance to the next canister (by earliest expiring date) and automatically complete the prescription-dispense.
    • Med-canisters are NDC specific - greatly increasing patient safety & reducing the possibility of a wrong medication being put into a med-canister.
    • Replenishing, Adding, & Removal of med-canisters averages < one minute.
    • Touch screen walks the user through every step of operations via questions and instructions.
    • Utilizes a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) instead of a PC for machine functions.  PLC: Proven track record in harsh environments and dusty conditions. 
    • Operator convenience and ergonomics: Brings the med-canisters to one central location.  Dispensing locations at ~ 3’, ~ 4’, & ~ 5’ (comfortable dispensing levels).
    • Has locking cabinets, and authorization levels: restricting access to medications
    • Authorization levels can be assigned according to guidelines & Pharmacy management decisions of dispensing, loading, or removal of meds.
    • Has locking removable back – allowing access to medications in cases of emergencies or power outages.
    • Med-dispensing location is indicated via flashing light; System will not dispense without vial at the proper location (touch screen instructs user to move vial to proper location).
    • Touch screen recommends vial size to be loaded.
    • Eliminates cross-contamination by dispensing directly from med-canister to the vial.
    • Canisters are designed for each pharmacy’s formulary request.
    • Eliminates nearly all remodel requirements: compact footprint.
    • Installation access requirements: common 36” doorway.
    • Total space consumption is 30” x 42” (30” x 30” at the floor).
